I think we can all agree that government "Terror Alert Levels" are bullshit. I think the weatherman has a better success/failure ratio than the government - and the weatherman actually tells you your chances. If you're watching NBC, he'll flat out tell you the odds.

"Well, tomorrow we have about a 30% chance of rain. It might rain, but I wouldn't bet on it."

If you're trying to figure out your chances of dying, though, the sources are much more vague than that.

"Well, terror alert's at orange. That means that someone, somewhere definitely hates us. Um, something might happen, so stay indoors and don't say we didn't warn you - but then again it might not, so if nothing explodes don't blame us, either."

There was no alert during any terrorist act, and since they've instituted the alert, no terrorist acts have occurred, even on the dreaded red days! So, as long as we're making up random words and colors, you might as well use this image. Freshly generated on every load, with a different color and warning!

Here's a few other, non-yonk-associated terror alert levels.
